City of Calgary Fleet Services Maintenance Centre (FSMC)
Fleet Services manages and maintains the City's fleet of light and heavy vehicles and equipment, supporting business units that provide front-line services such as waste and recycling, road repairs and cleaning, water mains repairs, and parks and public spaces maintenance.
Fleet Services also provides operator safety and training services to help the fleet work safely and responsibly. Set for completion in December 2015, the new FSMC at the Shepard Operational Workplace Centre site in southeast Calgary will facilitate an eight-bay vehicle shop area with administrative and office support spaces.
The $11.5 million facility is designed to achieve LEED®
Gold certification, and will be critical to providing efficient servicing to all business units that rely on it to maintain fleet vehicles. The exterior has an industrial look, with the administrative portion having exterior and interior variations. The 15,177 sf. structure is one of many located at Shepard Operational Workplace Centre, therefore project work is being integrated and coordinated with other current and planned projects on the site.
Our team is using the Shepard OWC Master Plan as a reference to guide discussions with stakeholders. Eventually, a planned second phase will see the building expanded to include an additional four bays (for twelve bays in total) by 2019.
