Sylvan Lake Fire Hall
Town of Sylvan Lake
The new Sylvan Lake Fire Hall is a contemporary interpretation of lakeside architecture influenced by the aesthetics of traditional docks, piers, and boathouses. This popular destination resort town is one of Canada's fastest growing communities, with over 12,300 residents and thousands of seasonal visitors.
This rapid growth has been a contributing factor in the volunteer fire department outgrowing their existing facility. SAHURI + Partners designed the new 14,262 sf. fire hall which is currently in the construction phase, with completion set for February 2016.
A priority of the new fire hall design is to comfortably accommodate the 25 staff who strive to protect their community members in Sylvan Lake, Summer Villages of Norglenwold, Jarvis Bay, Half Moon Bay, Birchcliff, and a portion of Red Deer County.
The $3.5 million facility features four double deep bays for rescue vehicles, administration offices and support spaces, entry foyer with reception, repair/work areas and storage spaces, laundry facilities, a fitness facility, showers and locker area, a training room that accommodates 50 people, staff lounge area and kitchen, and even outdoor amenities such as a patio and BBQ area. The design affords an opportunity for planned future expansion which will include sleeping accommodations.
