Projects: Protective Services
Cold Lake Fire Headquarters, Emergency Operations Centre, and Downtown District Fire Hall
City of Cold Lake, Alberta
Cold Lake Fire-Rescue serves the City of Cold Lake, a large portion of the Municipal District of Bonnyville, and Cold Lake First Nations, with occasional responses into Saskatchewan.
The service operates two fire stations, the Lake District Station and the Downtown District Station, and employs three fulltime personnel and 60 on-call firefighters. These firefighters are comprehensively trained through in-house and extension course delivery and skills maintenance.
In 2013, SAHURI + Partners was commissioned to develop the City's vision of a community-oriented fire station that reflects high quality services and signifies its commitment to safety and security of the city's 15,000 residents.
The design of the 27,000 sf. facility supports dedicated spaces for Fire and Rescue Operations and Training; Fire Service Administration, Maintenance, and Support; an Emergency Operations Centre; the EMS (Ambulance) Response Station; equipment and vehicle storage; and other areas for community use. These community areas in particular are key as they aid the Fire Service in providing public education programs for local residents. The $9 million project is currently in the construction phase, set for completion in spring, 2016.
